The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has released the enrollment criteria for 2023. Eligible candidates should meet the following conditions:
- Must be Ghanaian citizens.
- Age should fall within 18 to 26 years.
- Marital status should be unmarried.
- Must possess good character.
- Must meet medical fitness standards.
Academic Qualifications:
Applicants should have a minimum of:
- Six credits at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level, including English and Mathematics.
OR - Six credits at the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
OR - Six credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) level, including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
Application Guidelines for Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment
General Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens by birth.
- Good character is a prerequisite.
- Marriage is not allowed for Regular Cadets.
- Applicants should not be bonded.
- Age must not be less than 18 and not more than 26 years by March 30, 2024, for Regular Cadets.
- Applicants should meet the medical fitness standards set by the Ghana Armed Forces.
- Successful completion of the Pre-Joining Fitness Test is necessary.
- Minimum height requirements: 1.68m (5’6″) for males, 1.60m (5’2″) for females. For Military Police, male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9″) and 1.70m (5’7″) for females.
- Academic qualifications: a. BECE: Six credits including English and Mathematics.
b. WASSCE: Six credits (not less than C6) including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
c. SSSCE: Six credits (not less than D) including Core English, Core Mathematics, and Core Science.
d. GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels: Five credits (not less than 6) including English Language and Mathematics at GCE ‘O’ Level and not less than D in three subjects and General Paper at GCE ‘A’ Level.
e. Minimum of a First Degree not below Second Class Lower (Transcripts and Attestations will not be accepted).
Application Process:
- Acquire an Electronic Voucher priced at GHC350.00 from designated post offices in various regions.

- Visit the recruitment portal @ http://apply.mil.gh using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
- Read and understand the entry requirements thoroughly.
- Click on the “Apply Now” tab to access the applicant authentication page.
- Enter your card Serial Number, PIN code, select your preferred Arm of Service, and type of commission, then click “Submit.”
- Provide personal details as instructed.
- Upload a scanned passport-sized photograph (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid email address, and personal mobile phone number.
- Enter the results of the three required core subjects on your WASSCE/SSCE results slip (CORE MATHEMATICS AND CORE ENGLISH).
- Enter your WASSCE or SSSCE Index number, results slip Serial Number, select a Tertiary Institution from the list of schools, and provide other necessary data.
- Upload scanned copies of the following documents: WASSCE or SSSCE Results Slip and First Degree/Certificate (Degree). Each document should not exceed 1 (One) Megabyte in JPEG format.
- Preview the information for accuracy.
- Click “Submit” and expect an instant email and text message with your unique system-generated Identification Number.
- Print and retain a copy of the generated report for future reference.
- If you lose your report, return to the recruitment portal, click on the “Check Details” tab, enter your unique identification number, and request a re-print.
Note: Retain the used Electronic Voucher as it will be inspected at various stages of the selection process.
