The State Department will make 55,000 green cards available to foreign citizen
The U.S. Department of State will commence accepting online applications for the 2025 Diversity Visa lottery at noon EDT on Wednesday, October 4th. Applicants will have until noon EDT on November 7th to submit their applications.
In FY 2025, the State Department will allocate 55,000 green cards to foreign citizens through this program. The Diversity Visa initiative offers individuals from countries with low immigration rates to the United States the opportunity to obtain a green card.
For the 2024 program, the following countries are ineligible to apply: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Venezuela, and Vietnam.
To avoid potential website delays due to high demand, the State Department advises early registration. Each person is allowed only one submission.
