Kwesi Botchway Junior, a member of the New Patriotic Party Communications Team, has spoken out against abusive men in relationships. His comments come in the wake of the alleged shooting of Victoria Dapaah, a young woman who was reportedly shot multiple times by her police boyfriend on April 20, 2023. The accused police inspector, Ahmed Twumasi, appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court and claimed that Dapaah owed him money, but that he had no intention of killing her.
Unfortunately, this case is not unique, as there has been a rising trend of abuse in relationships and marriages, with women often being the victims. In response, Botchway urged women to leave any relationship where they experience abuse, stating that no man who is abusive deserves to be with a woman. He emphasized that many men intentionally perpetrate these acts, and urged young women to prioritize their safety and well-being.
In many cases, individuals accused of murder often use the insanity plea as a means of justifying their actions. However, in the recent case of the 26-year-old in Kumasi, Kwesi Botchway has expressed his belief that the actions of the police officer were intentional, and has called for an end to support for such a defense.
According to Botchway, the officer responsible for the shooting was not mentally ill, but instead carried out the act with full awareness of his actions. As a result, the officer is now facing charges of murder and is expected to appear in court to answer for his actions.
On Thursday, April 20, 2023, the officer shot his girlfriend multiple times, leading to her death. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice from members of the public, who are demanding that those responsible for such heinous acts be held accountable for their actions.
