Ajagurajah explains President Akufo-Addo’s spiritual purpose for carrying his chair

Ajagurajah justifies President Akufo-Addo’s use of a designated chair for spiritual reasons

Bishop Abed Boakye Asiamah, leader of Universal Spiritual Outreach and popularly known as Ajagurajah, has defended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s practice of carrying his own chair during his travels across the country. Bishop Asiamah clarified that the president’s choice to bring his chair is rooted in spiritual beliefs rather than arrogance.

During an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, May 3, 2023, Bishop Asiamah emphasized that the president’s act of carrying his chair is symbolic and not a display of pride. He related it to his own preference for bringing his chair to UTV, explaining that he chooses not to sit in chairs that are used by everyone.

The bishop used President Akufo-Addo’s chair as an example to support his argument against men engaging in sexual activities with women during their menstrual periods. He referenced a biblical passage that states sitting in a chair previously used by a menstruating woman would lead to defilement for seven days.

President Akufo-Addo has faced criticism for the transportation of his iconic presidential chair, which prominently features Ghana’s Coats of Arms, to various events. Critics argue that this practice is a waste of the country’s resources, while others interpret the president’s refusal to use chairs provided by hosts as a sign of disrespect.
