Alan campaign team in Northern Region abandons him, declares support for Bawumia

Members of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign team in the Northern Region have announced their endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference in November. This endorsement comes in the wake of Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the NPP, which he made public during a widely televised press conference on Monday.

During a subsequent press conference in Tamale on Tuesday, Chabite Moses Moye, an administrator of the Alan campaign team in the region, expressed surprise and disappointment at Kyerematen’s decision to depart from the New Patriotic Party. Moye emphasized that their support for Kyerematen was intrinsically tied to his affiliation with the NPP. Consequently, by disassociating himself from the party, Kyerematen had effectively severed ties with his support base in the region.

The group now firmly believes that, following Kyerematen’s resignation, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most suitable candidate to lead the NPP into the 2024 election. They have resolved to support him and expressed confidence that Bawumia is poised for victory.

Chabite Moses Moye reiterated the team’s unwavering commitment to the NPP, emphasizing that they would not betray the party for Alan Kyerematen’s personal agenda. He criticized Kyerematen for failing to compete in the party’s contest and accused him of betraying his loyal supporters. The group’s loyalty, Moye stressed, was to the NPP itself, and they remained steadfast in their support for the party.

It’s worth noting that the NPP, during a separate press conference on Tuesday, acknowledged and accepted Alan Kyerematen’s decision to resign from the party.
