Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the former NDC Chairman for Central Region, has criticized his former political party for calling for the arrest of Bryan Acheampong, the Minister for Agriculture, over comments he made at an NPP rally. Acheampong had stated that the NPP would never hand over power to the NDC, and warned that if the NDC used violence or threats in the 2024 election, the NPP would respond in kind.
The NDC deemed Acheampong’s comments treasonable and called for his arrest, but Allotey Jacobs disagreed, stating that Acheampong was simply trying to rally NPP supporters and that the NDC’s response showed weakness and fear.
Allotey Jacobs emphasized the importance of political strategy, stating that one key tactic is to “punch” opponents hard. He believes that Acheampong’s comments were designed to energize the NPP base, and that the NDC’s response showed their fear of the future.
He criticized the NDC for calling for Acheampong’s arrest, stating that it only demonstrated their weakness and lack of confidence in their own political future. Allotey Jacobs made these comments during an appearance on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, hosted by Kwami Sefa Kayi.
