The voting process in the Asawase constituency is experiencing a delay due to reports of the incumbent MP, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, allegedly camping some delegates. As a result, some elderly delegates have been forced to sit on the floor as they have been denied access to chairs at the voting center. Despite preparations for the voting process, there has been no communication regarding the delay.
According to a source who spoke withpriningonline , there is confusion at the voting center as the delegates are unaware of what is happening. “We have not started voting, and you know the Asawase delegates are aged, they are being refused access to seats, so they are sitting on the floor. The incumbent MP has also camped delegates and they are not here. We just don’t know why they haven’t started voting, no communication, nothing.”
The incumbent MP, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, who is one of Ghana’s longest-serving parliamentarians, is seeking reelection for the sixth time. However, he faces a challenge from Masawudu Mubarak, a businessman who hopes to unseat him.
