Two other officers, Eric Ayibiya and Lawrence Afri, who were with Motey at the time of the attack, were seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.
The motive for the attack is still unclear, but there are claims that it may be related to the prolonged conflict in the area. Bawku has been experiencing a wave of violence in recent times, with residents repeatedly terrorized by gunmen.
As a result of the incident, the military presence in the area has been beefed up to ensure the safety of residents. The authorities are yet to provide further details on the incident, but investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice
