Assin Asane: Pregnant JHS Student Beheaded and Killed

In the Assin South District of the Central Region, residents of Nsane near Ayaase are reeling from shock and fear after the brutal murder of a 15-year-old schoolgirl by unknown assailants.

The victim, Priscila Ataa Botwey, also known as Atta Kakra, was found naked and in a supine position in a bush on the outskirts of the town, with her head severed and lying approximately three meters away from her body. Her clothing covered the area where her neck had been cut, and her remains were in a decomposed state.

At the time of her death, Priscila was five months pregnant and lived with her grandparents in the same town. She was a Junior High School 1 student at the Assin Jakai Basic School.

According to reports from Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan, on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, at approximately 10 am, the victim was seen arguing with her boyfriend, Nana Yaw, a taxi driver stationed at Abura Dunkwa, about her pregnancy. Following the argument, neither the victim nor her boyfriend were seen in town until Sunday, March 12th, 2023, when the victim’s body was discovered in the bush.

The victim’s grandfather, Joseph Yankson, had earlier reported his missing granddaughter to the Nyankomase Ahenkuro police command. However, a farmer named Kojo Boadi reported to the grandfather that he had noticed flies hovering around a particular location in a nearby bush while heading to his farm. He decided to investigate and found a deceased human body lying in the area. He accompanied the grandfather to the location and discovered that it was his granddaughter, who had been brutally murdered.

A team of police officers led by Detective Lance Corporal Nii Armah Ashitey visited the crime scene and transported the victim’s remains to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the victim’s boyfriend, who is currently on the run
