In a horrifying incident that unfolded at Milaras Construction Company, a Turkish block-producing factory in Oyibi, Accra, six masked gunmen attacked the factory, resulting in the tragic death of one person and an injury to the factory owner.
Halima Umar Gingo, a staff member at the Turkish Embassy, spoke to GhanaWeb in a phone interview and reported that the factory owner, Ali Hüzmeli, who is Turkish, informed the embassy about the incident.
According to her account, the attackers arrived at the factory on October 14, 2023, around 5:30 pm, just as the company was closing, and they opened fire on the workers.
The factory owner, Ali Hüzmeli, was in his office with two of his children and his brother when the assailants stormed the premises.
In an attempt to protect the children from the gunfire, Ali’s brother, Engin Hüzmeli, who was closing the office door, was shot three times in the right arm and chest, resulting in his tragic death.
Halima explained that the attackers made off with GH¢ 3,000 in cash and various items, including phones and laptops found in the office premises.
Ali Hüzmeli reported the incident to the Oyibi Police Station, but there has been no official response regarding an investigation or the arrest of the unknown gunmen at this time.
