Autopsy findings reveal that 34-year-old Salahudeen Tafilu died from massive blood in his abdominal cavity, caused by a splenic rupture and blunt force trauma.
Following Salahudeen’s death, some youth in the Asokore Mampong Municipality expressed their outrage by attacking the Asawase police station and causing property damage. The deceased’s relatives and friends accused the police of manhandling him, leading to his untimely demise. The situation escalated when the police conducted a swoop in the Gooro community, resulting in the arrest of several civilians, including Salahudeen. After the police left the area, Salahudeen’s lifeless body was discovered.
At the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Salahudeen’s body was received with sorrow, and he was laid to rest following Islamic rites. Led by Yahaya Abdul-Aziz, the bereaved family is determined to seek justice for Salahudeen’s death, holding those responsible accountable.
The Muslim Community’s leadership is calling for calm among the youth to prevent further tensions and violence.
To maintain order and prevent further attacks on the facility, police officers have been stationed at the Asawase Police Station in response to the unrest.
