Benkum SHS Headmaster interdicted for allegedly having sex with 15 students

In a recent development reported by graphiconline.com, the Headteacher of Benkum Senior High School (SHS) located in the Eastern Region of Ghana has been placed on interdiction following allegations of sexual misconduct involving students. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken immediate action by suspending Emmanuel Nyarko pending a thorough investigation into his alleged involvement with approximately 15 female students at the school.

The incident is said to have occurred in 2022 when some teachers, who were reportedly also implicated in similar acts of sexual misconduct, accused Mr. Nyarko of engaging in the same inappropriate behavior. These allegations surfaced when attempts were made to transfer the accused teachers to different schools.

Deputy Spokesperson for the Education Ministry, Yaw Opoku Mensah, confirmed the ongoing investigation in a recent interview with CITI FM. He stated that the GES in the region is spearheading the inquiry and commended the school’s cooperation in facilitating the investigation process. The Ministry of Education is closely monitoring the situation.

Mr. Mensah emphasized that the investigation findings will be forwarded to the GES Headquarters in Accra for further action. He urged the public to remain calm and assist in the investigative process. It is expected that the outcomes of the investigation will be communicated to the GES headquarters, which will subsequently determine the appropriate course of action to be taken.

It is essential to await the completion of the investigation and the subsequent actions by the relevant authorities to ensure a fair and just resolution to the allegations of sexual misconduct involving the Headteacher and teachers of Benkum SHS.
