“Cecilia Dapaah’s Home Searched by OSP Officials Following Arrest”

On Monday, July 24, 2023, officials from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) conducted a search at the residence of former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah. Earlier that day, Madam Dapaah had been picked up for questioning in connection with suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses.

The OSP, in a statement, disclosed that the arrest occurred at 11:55 GMT on July 24, 2023. The former Minister, who resigned from her position on July 22, 2023, is under investigation for allegedly being involved in a significant sum of money and valuable items reportedly stolen from her residence.

The incident of theft, which involved the former Minister’s house helps, sent shockwaves throughout the nation, leaving citizens astonished and questioning the source of the money. The two house helps, 18-year-old Patience Botwe and 30-year-old Sarah Agyei, are currently facing charges before an Accra Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in stealing the monies and personal effects, amounting to millions of Ghana Cedis, from Madam Dapaah’s residence between July and October 2022.

After the news of the theft went viral and was reported by The Chronicle Newspaper, Cecilia Dapaah resigned from her ministerial position over the weekend. President Akufo-Addo accepted her resignation, mentioning her loyalty and expressing hope for the establishment of her integrity.

The ongoing investigation has drawn significant attention as the nation awaits further developments in this audacious theft case.
