Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has some military training or background from his time serving in the US Air Force.
It is worth noting that military service and background are not necessarily indicative of one’s abilities or qualifications as a politician. Additionally, the comments made by the minister about his party not relinquishing power and the backlash from opposition members are part of the political discourse and competition leading up to the 2024 General Elections in Ghana.
Regardless of the outcome of the elections, it is important to uphold the principles of sovereignty and democratic processes, ensuring that power rests with the people rather than any individual or political party.
The outlandish outbursts of Bryan Acheampong should be disregarded. The power lies with the people, not with a person who was only an Airman Basic for a brief period of two years in the United States Air Force, which is the lowest enlisted rank below airman.
It is highly likely that the majority of Ghanaian voters will opt for a change in the upcoming 2024 elections, and no one can undermine their decision.
If Bryan and those like him are driven by a desire to evade the wrongs they committed during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections and the 2020 elections, they are gravely mistaken. They cannot expect things to go on as they did before. This is a warning.

Bryan Acheampong’s outburst at Kwahu
Bryan Acheampong is on record as saying the governing New Patriotic Party will do everything within its means to win the 2024 general elections.
According to him, the NPP is not ready to hand over power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), therefore, his party will go to the election fully prepared.
He stated that the NPP has the men to match the opposition boot for boot during the 2024 polls.
Addressing party faithful after a health walk through the principal streets of Mpraeso on Saturday, April 8, 2023, Bryan Acheampong stressed that “We will show NDC that we have the men if they want to do intimidate, harass us or do anything foolish during the 2024 elections…It will not happen that we will hand over power to NDC. We’ll use any means for NPP to stay in power.”
