The West African Examinations Council has released provisional results for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023 (Ghana Only Version). Heads of schools will receive login details to access their candidates’ results online, while candidates can check their results on the Council’s website. Results of 4,878 candidates are blocked due to unreturned learning materials, and they should contact their schools. Stakeholders are cautioned against fraudsters, and candidates can authenticate results using the WAEC results verification system and QR code. Performance statistics reveal 448,674 candidates, a 5.8% increase from 2022, with 3,404 (0.75%) absent. Performance details for Core Subjects are available in the provided tables.
After investigating reported irregularities, the Ghana Examinations Committee, in its 35th meeting on December 13, 2023, made the following decisions:
- Cancellation of subject results for 3,647 candidates caught with foreign materials in the exam halls.
- Cancellation of entire results for 839 candidates found with mobile phones during the exams.
- Withholding subject results for 4,280 candidates and entire results for 1,005 due to suspected offenses.
Subject results for some candidates from 235 schools are withheld for collusion and AI-generated answers, pending further investigation. The release or cancellation of these results depends on the investigation’s outcome.
The Council extends gratitude to stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, Security Agencies, Heads of School, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and all who supported the successful examination conduct and result release.
