The National Communications Authority (NCA) has issued a directive stating that all telecommunication companies must remove any SIM cards that were disconnected during the re-registration exercise from their databases by Monday, April 17th. This also includes any SIMs that remain blocked in compliance with the Communication Minister’s directive from November 2022. The NCA has further instructed telecom operators to ensure that the removed SIM cards are reflected in the Central SIM Register by the same deadline. Failure to comply with this directive will result in a violation of Regulations 1 of the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Regulations, 2011. Additionally, the NCA has requested that telecom operators provide them with the total number of SIMs that were disconnected in accordance with the directive by April 18, 2023.
