DNA Confirms Paternity of Asamoah Gyan’s Three Children, Court Orders Monthly GH¢25K Upkeep in 2013 Marriage Dissolution

On October 31, 2023, an Accra High Court delivered its judgment after a protracted three-year divorce battle involving the former Ghanaian football international, Asamoah Gyan. The court ruled in favor of dissolving the marriage, which was initially entered into in 2013 between Asamoah Gyan and Gifty Gyan. In the course of this legal process, the court also addressed the issue of paternity concerning the couple’s three children. Gyan had previously denied paternity, prompting the court to order a DNA test, which unequivocally established him as the biological father of the children.

Dennis Law, in their report, documented the paternity matter: “At first, Asamoah Gyan had contested the paternity of their three children and sought the annulment of their marriage. However, in its decision on October 31, 2023, the court conclusively determined that Asamoah Gyan is indeed the father of the three children.”

Regarding the ongoing support and welfare of the children following the marriage dissolution, the court directed that Asamoah Gyan must provide Gifty Gyan with a monthly payment of 25,000 Ghana cedis. This financial support is intended for the upbringing and well-being of the three children, excluding specific expenses such as school fees, medical and dental care, flight tickets, and various other child-related costs.

Additionally, several significant outcomes for Gifty Gyan were determined, including:

a. The transfer of ownership of Asamoah Gyan’s UK mansion.
b. A four-bedroom house located in Spintex, Accra.
c. Ownership of land designated for a fuelling station in Prampram.
d. The allocation of a BMW and an Infiniti vehicle to Gifty Gyan.

This judgment marked the conclusion of a prolonged legal battle between the former spouses.
