In a recent incident, a sprinter bus driver’s daring actions led to the unfortunate death of one of five suspected armed robbers who attempted to attack and rob market women. As reported in a police situational report, the bus, carrying traders and registered under AS 9159-14, was returning from Yeji and heading towards Sunyani. The attack took place on the outskirts of Ahyiaem town in the Nkoranza jurisdiction along the Ejura-Nkoranza stretch.
According to eyewitnesses, five armed Fulani men opened fire on the bus, causing damage to the fan blade. In response, a police officer providing escort retaliated, and the driver skillfully knocked down one of the robbers, resulting in his immediate death.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified, mutilated Fulani male adult, believed to be in his late 20s, lying in the middle of the road. The deceased was dressed in a black jacket over a pink African garment, along with black Adidas trousers.
The body has been transported to the St. Theresa’s Hospital Morgue, where it awaits identification and a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, the police have launched a search for the remaining four suspects, who are currently on the run.
