Ernest Yaw Anim, a member of the NPP, emerges victorious in Kumawu by-election

Ernest Yaw Anim, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), emerged as the victor in the by-election held on May 23 in the Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region. With 15,264 votes (70.91%) of the valid votes cast, Anim defeated Kwasi Amankwaa from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who received 3,723 votes (17.29%). Two independent candidates named Kwaku Duah participated in the election, with the first one securing 2,478 votes (11.51%) and the second one obtaining 62 votes (0.29%).
