Former NPP MP Challenges Ken Agyapong to Meet in Assin Central on November 4

Former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has criticized Kennedy Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, for his unwarranted attacks on the government. Opare-Ansah disputed Agyapong’s claims that he played a significant role in appointing many government ministers, suggesting that this would imply Agyapong had significant influence within the government he was criticizing.

During an interview on Wontumi FM on October 27, 2023, Opare-Ansah questioned whether Agyapong thought about the consequences of his statements before making them public. He pointed out Agyapong’s specific threat to Central Regional executives who did not support his candidacy, expressing concerns about Agyapong’s approach and intentions within the party.

Opare-Ansah emphasized that Agyapong should understand that the NPP has other influential members, and his actions could potentially harm the party. Agyapong had previously threatened repercussions if Vice President Bawumia won the Central Region in the upcoming flagbearership election.

Kennedy Agyapong is competing for the flagbearer position along with three other candidates, including Dr. Bawumia, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh. The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, for the election of the party’s new leader, succeeding President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
