“Ga Mantse Warns: Don’t Take Us for Granted, We’re Disrespected on Our Own Land

The Ga Mantse Nii Teiko Tsuru II expressed his frustration over the mistreatment of the GaDangme people on their own land during a meeting with Alan Kyerematen, a flagbearer aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party, on March 13th, 2023. He conveyed his sadness about the lack of consultation with traditional authorities before people build in places like Agbogbloshie.

The chief emphasized that the GaDangme people are election kingmakers and cannot be taken for granted. He stated that they will decide the 2024 election since Accra is the pivot of the election, and urged Mr Kyerematen to build a social contract with the GaDangme people. The Ga Mantse reminded Mr Kyerematen of the toil of great Ga leaders who fought for the NPP and made it what it is today.

Mr Kyerematen acknowledged the importance of the Ga community in bringing the NPP to power and promised to make sure that the Ga people feature prominently in government if he becomes president. He noted the spiritual connectivity between the NPP’s elephant symbol and the Ga State’s symbol.

In summary, the Ga Mantse expressed his concern over the mistreatment of the GaDangme people and their pivotal role in the upcoming election. Mr Kyerematen promised to appreciate the Ga community’s contribution to the NPP’s success and ensure their representation in government if elected president
