Gambian Girlfriend Remanded in Custody for Alleged Murder of Kikibees Restaurant Owner

31-year-old Mam Yandey Joof has been remanded to police custody by the Madina District Court, following the alleged murder of 40-year-old Bennette Agyekum Adomah, the CEO of Kikibees Restaurant and Lounge in East Legon. Adomah was reportedly killed in Joof’s residence, where they had an amorous relationship for the past three years.

Inspector Jameson Awumey provided details to the court, explaining that Agyekum Adomah returned to Ghana on October 7, 2023, after a trip abroad. He went to his East Legon residence but later that evening, around 8:00 pm, he left for Kikibees Restaurant and Lounge.

Around 12:30 am on October 8, 2023, Agyekum Adomah left the restaurant to visit Joof in her Ogbojo apartment. At 1:30 am, he began exhibiting erratic behavior, claiming that people were chasing him and causing a disturbance in Joof’s apartment, which alerted other tenants in the building.

Joof called a close friend of the deceased for help, but upon arrival, they found Agyekum Adomah lying in the kitchen in a pool of blood. He was rushed to DEL Hospital at East Legon but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The police were informed, and the body was taken to the Police hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

During the investigation, broken ceramic glass with blood stains was discovered in Joof’s apartment, and a cut was found on the deceased’s left thumb. The case has been adjourned until October 27.

Mam Yandey Joof’s lawyer, Muniru Kassim, maintains her innocence and plans to seek bail in the High Court, asserting that they will prove her innocence in due time.
