The government has rejected assertions from Nana Appiah Mensah, the CEO of the now-defunct Menzgold Ghana Limited, also known as NAM1, regarding a GH¢5 million deposit with the Ghana Police Service. NAM1 claimed to have handed over GH¢5 million on October 20 for distribution to customers, specifying it was for those who completed the verification process, including a GH¢2.5 million judgment debt.
However, during parliamentary questioning, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, clarified that only GH¢2.5 million was received, contradicting NAM1’s stated amount. Dissatisfied customers, seeking fund release since Menzgold’s 2018 suspension over alleged Ponzi scheme operations, continue to press for resolution. NAM1 is presently undergoing trial for fraud.
