Group petitions GRA to chase Okudzeto Ablakwa over ‘unpaid taxes

The Movement for Justice – Ghana, a governance accountability group, has urged the Registrar of Companies and the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to investigate Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa regarding allegations of an unregistered company and unpaid taxes. The group is requesting the GRA to provide information about Mr. Ablakwa’s tax returns on his solely-owned company, Volta Klenam Farms and Industries Ltd, which they claim is unregistered with the GRA and has not paid any taxes since its establishment in 2021. They also want the GRA to investigate the source of GHC 500000 allegedly paid in cash as consideration for his shares in the company and any taxes paid on the transaction. The group also raised concerns about another company, Savvi Solutions, in which Mr. Ablakwah has an interest, claiming that the company owned by Mr. Ablakwah and his wife, Nuhela Seidu, has defaulted on paying taxes.

The Pokuase Mail attempted to contact Mr. Ablakwa for his response, but he did not respond. According to a close source to the Member of Parliament, he was made aware of the group’s intent last week. While Mr. Ablakwah agrees with the group’s principles, he believes the current probe is an unwarranted intrusion into his private life
