Dr. Kwabena Duffuor Reaffirms Commitment to NDC, Denies Quitting

Former Finance Minister Dr Kwabena Duffuor has dismissed reports suggesting that he is leaving the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to form his own political party. In a statement, he emphasized his loyalty and commitment to the NDC, stating that he has no intentions of leaving. He asserted that the NDC is his home and that he will always remain faithful to the party. Dr Duffuor clarified that his decision to compete for the flagbearership of the NDC was driven by his desire to see the party succeed, and that motivation remains unchanged. He acknowledged that the party’s collective interest outweighs personal goals and desires, and the internal contest of ideas is aimed at advancing the party’s legacy. Despite his withdrawal from the NDC a day before the primaries, Dr Duffuor clarified that his commitment to the party and the grassroots remains strong. He cited concerns about irregularities in the upcoming primaries, particularly regarding the voters’ register, as the reason for his withdrawal. Dr Duffuor expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership in resolving these issues and raised doubts about the fairness and transparency of the elections.
