During a health walk called “Aduro Wo So” in Accra on Saturday, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), declared that he has the political experience to win the 2024 presidential election for the party. He urged the delegates to support him, stating that the NPP needs an experienced and mature leader to “break the eight,” and he is the individual for the job in the 2024 election.
The health walk was attended by hundreds of party members and sympathizers, who were dressed in NPP t-shirts and other party paraphernalia. Party members sang and danced during the walk, and some displayed placards with slogans such as “Father for all,” “Ghana’s Hope,” and “Jobs for the people, Cash for the people.”
A group of Adisadel College old students, known as the “Santacluasians For Alan,” endorsed Kyerematen’s candidacy during the walk. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, noted that Alan Kyerematen has been a long-serving member of the NPP, and just as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was endorsed when the party felt it was his turn, the same must be done for Kyerematen.
Ahenkorah stated that Kyerematen’s competency had been proven over time through his initiatives in industrialization, and that he had contributed significantly to the growth of the party and past governments. Alfred Mensah-Onumah, an old student of Adisadel College and coordinator of the “Santacluasians for Alan” group, praised Kyerematen as an industrial genius who, if given the nod, would bring about an industrial revolution in the country.
Mensah-Onumah also mentioned Kyerematen’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and his success in spearheading the Government’s One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) program as a minister. He concluded by saying that Kyerematen’s time has come, and he appealed to all delegates to vote for him as the flagbearer, assuring them that he will lead the party to victory in the general election.
