The Accra High Court has issued an injunction on the funeral of the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, which is currently underway. According to the court’s directive, the organizers are required to postpone the funeral for the next ten days. Justice Patrick Baayeh presided over this court order, which explicitly prohibits anyone from handling the remains of the late queen mother during this specified period.
The plaintiffs in this case include Nuumo Emmanuel T. Antia We, who serves as the Head of the Antie We of Kpone, Nii Addey Oba-Aasaa II, the Ankobea of Antie We of Kpone, Shippi Antie I, representing Saduase Shippi Kpone, and Charles Nii Kotey Kotey, who is the Head of Naa Dedei Omaedru We Family of Faase, Accra. The list also encompasses Asafoatse Nii Kotey Ga II, who holds the title of Oseahene of Ga Manye Stool and serves as the Principal Elder of the Naa Dedei Omaedru We of Faase, Accra. Additionally, Michael Nii Ofei Danso of the unnumbered House Accra, acts as the Principal Elder of Naa Dedei Omaedru We of Faase, Accra, and Naa Yomofio, who is the Linguist of Ga Manye Naa Dedei Omaedru We.
Initially, the Ga Traditional Council had planned to conduct the burial of the Paramount Queen Mother of the Ga State as scheduled on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
