Koffi Addo, a 57-year-old father, left Ghana at the age of 37, according to his partner. Since arriving in the United States, he has worked two jobs to support both his nuclear family and his extended family back home.
Tragically, Koffi Addo was shot and killed by a client while working as a taxi driver in Somerset County, New Jersey. Local police confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, as reported by CBS News.
According to authorities, an individual entered the taxi at the intersection of Rose Street and Sydney Place in Franklin Township. The person confronted the driver, shot him, and then fled the scene, as mentioned in the report.
Addo’s son and girlfriend stated that he immigrated to the U.S. from Ghana 20 years ago with the goal of creating a better life for his family. Hubert Addo described his father as a hard-working man who always minded his own business and strived for the American dream through hard work. Kecia Banks, his girlfriend, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a great man with whom she had planned to settle down for the rest of her life.
Investigators have indicated that there may be more than one suspect involved in the incident. Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the authorities.
