Former Ghanaian Rapper Lousika Crowned Queen Mother of Manso Nkwanta and Introduced to Asantehene
Lousika, a former Ghanaian rapper, has been enstooled as the queen mother of Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She has been given the stool name Nana Nyarko Aboraa Sika III, in accordance with tradition.
As part of the traditional process, Nana Nyarko Aboraa Sika III was introduced to Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II on March 14, 2023. The post of queen mother is an important one, as Manso Nkwanta is considered the ears of the Asantehene and Asanteman.
According to oral tradition, the Manso Nkwanta stool dates back to the time of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu I. It was created to serve as a listening post to detect any surprise attacks from the Southern tribes such as Denkyira and Fante.
The first chief of Manso Nkwanta, Nana Obiri Kusi I, was responsible for sending information to Kumasi in case of any advancement or movement of the enemy towards Asante territory, so that Asante could prepare and stop them. This effectively quelled any rebellion against Asante before it could cross into Asante territory.
