Asante Kotoko Gets New Interim Management Committee
On Saturday, July 21, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the owner and life patron of Asante Kotoko, announced the formation of a four-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the club’s affairs.
This decision came after the dissolution of the 12-member board of directors, led by Dr. Kwame Kyei, and the management team led by Nana Yaw Amponsah, whose mandate had expired.
In preparation for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Otumfuo appointed the four-member IMC to take charge.
The committee comprises Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, the Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant, as well as former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, who is named the new head coach, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, who will serve as the administrative manager.
In a statement, “His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has appointed an Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Asante Kotoko S.C pending the restructuring of the administration of the club.”
The statement continues, “The members are Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua (Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant), Akwasi Appiah, former National Coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, Head Coach and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi (Administrative Manager).”
The main purpose of the IMC is to ensure the club fulfills all its statutory obligations in the Premier League and to build a formidable team for the upcoming season.
