Finance, Education, and Agriculture Ministers Summoned to Parliament over National Food Buffer Stock Company Challenges

The Ministers of Finance, Education, and Food and Agriculture are set to appear before Parliament on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, following the Speaker’s directive to the Business Committee. They will address the house regarding the issues faced by the National Food Buffer Stock Company, prompted by a recent picketing by the National Food Suppliers Association due to outstanding debts owed by the government.

During the presentation of the business statement for the upcoming week in Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the First Deputy Majority Whip, disclosed this information. She stated that in response to the Speaker’s directive on July 7, 2023, the Business Committee had scheduled the appearance of the Ministers responsible for finance, education, and food and agriculture on July 18, 2023. The purpose of their presence is to provide an explanation to the honorable members concerning the challenges confronting the National Food Buffer Stock Company.
