MTN Ghana Set to Implement Approximately 15% Price Increase Across All Products and Services Starting November 28

MTN Ghana, a major telecommunications company, has disclosed its intention to raise prices across all its products and services starting November 28, 2023. This adjustment may result in a minimum increase of 15 percent on all offerings, as outlined in a circular issued to customers on November 24, 2023. MTN attributes this upward revision to rising operational costs.

The price hike is anticipated to impact MTN Ghana’s substantial customer base, which experienced a 12.8% year-over-year growth in mobile subscribers, reaching 28.6 million in 2022. Notably, the telco had to disconnect over 5 million users in December 2022 due to the government’s SIM re-registration exercise, which required correct registration and linkage to Ghana cards.
