Based on the statement released by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on April 9, 2023, it appears that the party is ready to defend the democratic will of voters and the sovereignty of Ghana against any threats of subversion. The party has stated its commitment to preserving the democratic will of the people, even at the risk of their lives, and has called on the police to arrest Bryan Acheampong, a Member of Parliament and Minister of Food and Agric, over recent comments the party considers to be reckless and treasonable.
The NDC has also highlighted the recent arrest of its youth organizer in Suame, who was arrested for inciting party supporters to attack opponents, even if it means injuring or killing them. The party has called for similar swift action from the police in arresting Bryan Acheampong and bringing him to justice. Additionally, the NDC has called on voices of conscience to condemn similar statements made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
