The National Media Commission (NMC) has cleared Nana Kwadwo Jantuah, a presenter with Nhyira FM, of allegations of bribery levelled against him by Frank Kwaku Appiah, also known as Appiah Stadium. The NMC, in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, George Sarpong, stated that the bribery allegation had no merit and that Appiah had recanted his allegations and admitted publicly that he had no evidence to back his claims.
The NMC launched an investigation into the allegations following a petition from Archibald Ntiri-Acquah, Fredrick Addae, and George Amponsah, who asked the commission to investigate the matter and take the necessary action. The Commission found that the confession of Frank Kwaku Appiah, who made the original allegation, put the matter beyond controversy.
In a leaked video that went viral, Appiah Stadium had alleged that Nana Kwadwo Jantuah received money from the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, for doing a fantastic job for the party. Appiah Stadium was overheard telling one Nurudeen that one Alhaji Sani had sent him to give $2,000 and an additional GHC2000 to Mr Jantuah.
The management of Nhyira FM had earlier issued a statement denying the bribery allegations levelled against Nana Kwadwo Jantuah, stating that they were unfounded and unsubstantiated. With the NMC clearing Nana Kwadwo Jantuah of the allegations, the matter has been put to rest
