Kofi Amankwa-Manu, the Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma, has expressed his full support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, stating that he is willing to sacrifice his own seat to back Bawumia’s presidential bid.
In an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the lawmaker emphasized his belief that Dr. Bawumia is the most qualified candidate to lead the country. Despite having good relationships with all ten aspirants and familial connections to some, Amankwa-Manu believes that the current state of the nation necessitates a leader like Dr. Bawumia who can bring about positive change.
The MP stated that he is not concerned about losing his seat if the NPP wins the 2024 elections, as he firmly believes in the overall benefits of Dr. Bawumia’s victory for the party. Amankwa-Manu highlighted the overwhelming support for the vice president in his constituency, citing the positive reception during Dr. Bawumia’s recent visit. He clarified that his support for Dr. Bawumia was not influenced by anyone, including the majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonus.
The MP stressed the importance of a leader with a clear vision and recognized Dr. Bawumia as an exceptional individual who has demonstrated unwavering commitment and proactivity as the vice president. Amankwa-Manu underscored the significance of supporting Dr. Bawumia’s candidacy for the party’s flagbearership.
