The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has urged the people of the Volta Region to avoid being used as mere voting machines to generate votes for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2024 general election.
During an interview on Stone City FM, a Volta-based radio station, which was also broadcasted on Sandcity Radio in Keta, Mustapha, who is currently touring all 16 regions of the country, emphasized that “You are not voting machines.”
He also pointed out that the Volta Region has been loyal to the NDC since 1992, yet the region has not received enough development in return for its loyalty. On the other hand, he stressed that the NPP has accomplished more developmental projects in the region despite its relatively short stay in power compared to the NDC. Furthermore, he promised that the NPP would continue to prioritize the development of young people.
In addition, Mustapha highlighted that the NPP is currently constructing eight district hospitals in the Volta Region as part of the Agenda 111 initiative. The hospitals include those in Agortime Ziope District, Agortoe in the Anloga District, Ave-Dakpa in the Akatsi North District, Adeheta in the Akatsi South District, Adaklu Waya in the Adaklu District, Kpeve New Town in the South Dayi District, Dzolokputa in the Ho West District, and Ve-Golokwati Afadzato in the Afadzato South District.
Several initiatives have been implemented in the Volta Region, including the establishment of the Volta Regional Youth Resource Centre, the asphalting of roads, digitalization programs, the One District One Factory (1D1F) project, and the creation of job opportunities. In addition, the region had the privilege of hosting the 66th Independence Day celebration. During President Kuffour’s administration, notable policies such as the Health Insurance Scheme and Free Maternal Care were also introduced.
Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the people of the Volta Region to consider voting for the NPP in the 2024 elections. Speaking at a gathering in the region, he highlighted the NPP’s accomplishments in the area, including the establishment of the Volta Regional Youth Resource Centre, asphalting of roads, digitalisation, 1D1F, and job creation. He urged the youth of the region to analyze the track record of the two major political parties and vote for the one that has contributed more to the region’s development and progress.
Addressing the current economic situation, Mustapha acknowledged that the country is facing difficulties due to the impact of Covid-19 and the ongoing conflict in Russia and Ukraine. However, he asserted that the NPP government is working hard to restore the economy and place it on a sound footing. He also praised the government’s management of the Covid-19 pandemic, stating that Ghana’s response has been one of the best in the world.
Mustapha criticized the opposition NDC for their propaganda aimed at deceiving the people of Ghana and urged the people of the Volta Region not to fall for their lies. He highlighted the NPP’s achievements in meeting its statutory payment obligations, providing public sector workers with monthly salaries without delay, ensuring a steady supply of fuel, and maintaining uninterrupted power supply.
Mustapha emphasized that the NPP deserves a third term in office based on their track record and performance, adding that the party has demonstrated a stronger commitment to solving the country’s problems compared to the NDC. He is currently on a national tour to assess the strength of the party and energize the base, accompanied by his deputies and other supporting staff.
