On August 18, 2023, the Ghana Education Service (GES) will conduct awareness sessions for candidates who participated in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to inform them about the guidelines for selecting Senior High Schools.
The school selection process is scheduled to take place from August 23 to September 4, 2023, across regional, district education directorates, and schools.
In a statement by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the Head of the Public Relations Unit at GES, it was announced, “GES management would like to notify the public, especially Parents, Candidates, and Teachers, that the sensitization and education regarding this year’s guidelines for selecting Senior High Schools will begin on Friday, August 18, 2023.”
She further added, “This activity will be conducted at all the respective Regional, District Education Directorates, and schools. Additionally, Management wants to inform stakeholders that the school selection process is scheduled from August 23 to September 4, 2023.”
Cassandra Twum Ampofo emphasized that candidates will have the opportunity to confirm their school choices by texting a designated short code before the actual placement takes place. She mentioned, “Candidates will have the chance to send a text to a specific short code to confirm their chosen schools before the final Placement is conducted. Further details about the short code will be provided in due course.”
The BECE, which began on August 7 and concluded on August 11, marked the examination period.
