The King of the Ashanti Kingdom in Ghana, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was recently captured in an iconic moment when he met with King Charles III of England ahead of his coronation. The two royals were photographed shaking hands, with Otumfuo dressed in colourful regalia and King Charles wearing a blue suit and tie.
Accompanying Otumfuo was his wife, Lady Julia, who was elegantly dressed in a Kente cloth ‘Kaba’ and ‘Slit’ that complemented her husband’s attire. The three were also photographed together, with King Charles ‘sandwiched’ between the Ghanaian royals.
The Manhyia Palace Twitter handle shared the post, confirming that Otumfuo and Lady Julia had been officially invited to the coronation ceremony on May 6, 2023. They would also attend the King’s official reception on May 5, 2023.
The coronation of King Charles III will also include the coronation of Queen Consort Camilla, and approximately 2,000 people have already been confirmed to attend the event. The Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace, John Badu, issued a statement confirming Otumfuo’s invitation to the ceremony along with his wife.
