“Over 200 Reports Sent to OSP Urging Probe into Cecilia Dapaah’s Stolen Monies”

The offices of the Special Prosecutor have received numerous reports urging an immediate investigation into a significant sum of money stolen from the former Minister for Sanitation, Madam Cecilia Dapaah. Over 200 reports have been submitted by prominent individuals expressing concerns over the source of the stolen funds, allegedly taken by her two house helps.

Madam Cecilia Dapaah resigned on July 22, 2023, following revelations that her house helps had allegedly stolen substantial amounts of money, including foreign and local currencies, from her residence in Accra. The incident shocked the nation and raised questions about the audacious theft.

Currently, the two house helps, Patience Botwe (18 years old) and Sarah Agyei (30 years old), are facing charges before an Accra Circuit Court for their involvement in the theft. It is alleged that they stole an astounding sum of $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis between July and October 2022.

While the OSP has not yet announced whether it will open an investigation into the scandal, it is important to note that a formal report or petition is not necessarily required for them to initiate a probe into suspected corruption cases.

Many Ghanaians have taken to social media, calling on the Special Prosecutor to expedite the investigation into the source of the stolen funds. The situation has left citizens eager for answers, as Madam Dapaah has not provided a satisfactory explanation regarding the origin of the stolen monies from her home, which she shared with her husband.
