Following the resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, has urged the government to swiftly search for a new Minister for the crucial ministry. The resignation came after allegations of theft of substantial amounts of foreign and local currencies at her residence in Abelemkpe.
In an interview with Citi News, Dr. Asah-Asante stressed the importance of the Ministry and emphasized the need for a prompt appointment of a replacement by the president. He stated that time is of the essence, and the new appointee should be able to take immediate action and address the challenges faced by the country, especially in the current economic situation.
The lecturer also advised President Akufo-Addo to prioritize competence over loyalty when selecting the new Sanitation and Water Resources Minister. While acknowledging the importance of loyalty, he emphasized that productivity and results should be the main criteria in choosing a suitable candidate for the position. Dr. Asah-Asante emphasized the significance of a proven track record in handling the responsibilities of the Ministry effectively.
