Prempeh College’s Robotic team proudly presented their two championship trophies from the 2023 Robofest in the USA to the esteemed Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. The victorious team emerged triumphant in the Senior Bottle Sumo Unlimited Category and the Time Trial category of the championship held at the Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, USA.
Before embarking on their journey to the competition, the team received generous support from His Highness through his foundation, receiving GHC17,500 to aid their participation.
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, the team visited the Manhyia Palace, expressing gratitude to His Majesty for the support and blessings that contributed to their outstanding victory. Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, Chairman of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, spoke on their behalf, acknowledging how the students’ success in the national robotic competition propelled them to triumph at the global level in Michigan.
The delegation from the school included the headmaster, Mr. Aaron Atuah Gyewu, Acting President of Old Students, Anthony Osei Poku, Robotic Club President, Seth Afeku, Team Captain, Kofi Acheampong, Strategist, Caleb Alhassan, and other members of the team.
The Robofest World Championship aims to foster and support Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), AI, and Computer Science. It provides students with essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, creativity, communication, and problem-solving, preparing them for success in higher education and technological careers.
