Prempeh College Takes Legal Action Against NSMQ Organizers, Seeks Injunction on Finals

Prempeh College Takes Legal Action in NSMQ Dispute
Prempeh College, a well-known participant in the National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ), has initiated legal proceedings against the competition’s organizers, Primetime Limited. The school has filed a lawsuit seeking an interlocutory injunction on the upcoming NSMQ finals scheduled for October 30, 2023. This legal action stems from a disagreement regarding an answer provided by Prempeh College’s contestants during the semi-final round, which the school argues was correct but was ruled incorrect by the quiz mistress.

In response, Primetime Limited rejected Prempeh College’s petition concerning the semi-final contest. The organizers stated that upon careful review, they were satisfied with the explanations provided by the NSMQ consultant and the quiz mistress regarding the decision not to award marks to Prempeh College for the disputed question.

In an official statement signed by the school’s NSMQ coordinator, PB Damoah, Prempeh College expressed its determination to explore all available options to ensure a fair resolution. This legal action introduces a significant twist to the NSMQ proceedings, casting uncertainty on the status and outcome of the final event as the legal dispute unfolds.
