Read the full judgement, judge didn’t call you ‘blackmailer, evil’ in isolation – Anas told

It is important to take the time to fully read and understand the context of a court ruling before making any emotional reactions or judgments. In this case, Charles Nii Teiko Tagoe is encouraging people to read the full judgment of the court ruling, rather than just focusing on isolated words or phrases. It is important to approach such matters with an open mind and a willingness to understand all aspects of the situation. Emotions and personal biases can cloud judgment and prevent a full understanding of the facts at hand. Therefore, it is crucial to take the time to analyze and digest all relevant information before making any conclusions or judgments

On March 15, 2023, the Accra High Court dismissed a GH¢25 million defamation lawsuit brought by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, an investigative journalist, against Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin Central Member of Parliament. Although the court acknowledged that some of the defendant’s statements about the plaintiff could be defamatory, the court ruled that they were factual and fair.

As a result, the case was dismissed, and the defendant was awarded 50,000 Ghana cedis to cover legal costs. The MP hailed the decision as a triumph for candid talk over investigative terrorism, while the journalist criticized the decision as a miscarriage of justice. He has announced that his legal team intends to appeal the ruling and that he will continue his fight against corruption without pause
