Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, a vocal critic of John Dramani Mahama, revealed that he candidly expressed his opinions to the former president during a chance encounter. In an interview on The Delay Show as reported by priningonline, the broadcaster recounted his interactions with Mahama in 2020, where he openly shared his assessment of the politician despite acknowledging him as a fine gentleman.
He conveyed a similar sentiment to Julius Debrah, the owner of Radio XYZ where he previously worked and a stalwart of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating his lack of belief in Mahama’s leadership.
Maintaining his stance, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah asserted that Mahama’s leadership appears stale and the country needs fresh ideas. He firmly stated that Mahama would not match the three leading contenders in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership race.
While he has criticized the Akufo-Addo government despite supporting the NPP during the elections, Okatakyie refuted claims that his criticisms stemmed from being sidelined. He clarified that despite having connections within the Akufo-Addo government, his focus has been on broader issues rather than personal gain.
He emphasized his independence by mentioning that he never sought favors from those in political offices. Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah’s interest lies in creating a conducive environment to earn from his efforts.
