“Schedule for US Vice President’s Trip to Ghana Released by White House”

The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, is scheduled to visit Ghana from Sunday, March 26, 2023, to Tuesday, March 28, 2023. During her visit, she will meet with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Monday, March 27, 2023, and visit a local recording studio in Accra where she will interact with young people in the creative industry.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, she will deliver a major speech at the Black Star Square to a young audience, and then visit the Cape Coast slave castle where she will tour the castle and give a speech on the brutality of slavery and the African Diaspora.

On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, the Vice President will meet with women entrepreneurs in Accra to discuss the economic empowerment of women. During this meeting, she is expected to announce a series of public and private sector investments aimed at closing the digital gender divide and empowering women economically across the continent.

After her visit to Ghana, the Vice President will proceed to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the afternoon of Wednesday, March 29, 2023, as part of efforts by the US government to strengthen its relations with African nations. Kamala Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, will also visit Zambia from March 25 to April 2, 2023.

The trip is aimed at building on the recent U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit hosted by President Biden in Washington in December 2022, strengthening partnerships throughout Africa, and advancing efforts on security and economic prosperity
