“School Bus Accident in Asokore Mampong Hospitalizes Female Teacher as It Somersaults”

A female educator from Happy Royals International School in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region is currently receiving medical care following a school bus rollover incident. The driver lost control, leading to the bus nearly plunging into a drainage system at the Sawaba New Site. Both the driver and the injured teacher were on their way back to the school after transporting students who had finished their classes on Tuesday.

It’s worth noting that the particular stretch of road where this incident occurred is prone to flooding, and despite numerous pleas from motorists, a bridge on this route has remained in disrepair for several years.

The school’s owner, John Walker, attributed the incident to the proliferation of potholes on the road. “Potholes have taken over this section of the road, and gullies have formed at the edges due to erosion,” Mr. Walker explained.

In June 2021, a tragic incident occurred when a one-year-old boy was swept away by floodwaters while traveling with his mother on a tricycle along this same road.

This road section, where a bridge lies in disrepair, is a critical route leading to the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, frequently used by Assembly staff, including the Municipal Chief Executive. Additionally, numerous schools are situated in the vicinity, and schoolchildren, as well as school buses, traverse this stretch daily.

Residents and commuters have witnessed several accidents on this road due to its deplorable condition. They issued a stark warning, emphasizing that more calamities are likely to occur if authorities do not take immediate action to repair the road and fix the broken bridge.
