Speaker Bagbin Urges Education Minister to Rethink December 4 Resumption for New SHS Students.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has called on the Ministry of Education to reconsider its decision requiring fresh students to start school on Monday, December 4, 2023. This date, applicable to both single and double-track students, was specified in the 2023/2024 academic calendar released by the Ghana Education Service (GES). Responding to concerns raised by the Minority caucus about the limited time for student preparations, the Speaker urged Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum to contemplate reopening schools in the first week of January 2024. The Minister is expected to brief Parliament on this matter on Monday. The resolution emphasizes the reconsideration of the December 4 directive and proposes the first week of January 2023 for school resumption. The Speaker reassured parents and students, asking for patience as efforts are made to address the issue.
