UK Tragedy: Ghanaian Teen Fatally Attacked by Nigerian Peer in Drug-Related Incident

The Northampton Crown Court has ruled on the murder of Kwabena Osei-Poku, a Ghanaian student in the UK, by his Nigerian colleague, Melvin Lebaga-Idubor. In January, Lebaga-Idubor was convicted of murder and knife possession. Both 19-year-old students of Northampton University, they were also involved in drug dealing, particularly cannabis. In April, Lebaga-Idubor and a compatriot, Ogechi Eke, deceived Kwabena into selling them drugs, robbing him of £1,000 worth of stash, and warning him against drug sales in their territory. In the pursuit of retrieval, Kwabena was fatally stabbed twice in the neck by Melvin. Despite seeking medical help on CCTV, Kwabena succumbed to his injuries. After a 6-week trial, the court found Melvin guilty of murder and knife possession, while Eze was acquitted of all charges, including manslaughter.
