Baffour Gyan Clarifies Court Ruling on Asamoah Gyan’s Marriage Annulment Case

In an exclusive interview with Asempa FM, Baffour Gyan, the brother of former Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, shed light on the recent court ruling regarding his brother’s marriage annulment case. Contrary to widely reported information, Baffour Gyan firmly asserted that they view the court’s decision as a victory for the Gyan brothers.

Addressing the misconceptions surrounding the case, Baffour Gyan clarified that while there have been reports suggesting that the ruling was a setback for the Gyan brothers, in reality, it is a triumph. He stated, “I’ve heard the news; it’s our (Gyan brothers) victory, and people have misunderstood it.”

Furthermore, Baffour Gyan provided additional details about the court proceedings that transpired on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. He revealed that the legal battle began five years ago when Asamoah Gyan discovered that his wife, Gifty Gyan, had a prior marriage, unbeknownst to him. In response, Asamoah initiated legal proceedings, with the condition that if it was confirmed that Gifty’s prior marriage existed, their marriage should be annulled.

Baffour Gyan also confirmed that the court indeed annulled the marriage, emphasizing, “So the ruling came today, and the court found out that indeed, Gifty had been married, and according to Ghana’s law, a woman cannot be married to two men simultaneously. Therefore, the court annulled the marriage, declaring it null and void.”

Regarding the distribution of properties in the divorce settlement, Baffour Gyan clarified that all the properties mentioned were already registered in Gifty Gyan’s name, as they originally belonged to her. He explained, “Concerning the properties, while Asamoah and Gifty were together, he purchased a house in Spintex for Gifty and the children, and that house was already in Gifty’s name. Gifty also acquired a plot of land in Tema for a gas station, which was also registered in her name. Additionally, there was the Infiniti car.”
