“Ultimatum Issued by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to Subchief Baffour Adugyemfu Kumani: Appear Before the Throne or Face Dismissal”

In a recent pronouncement, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has summoned one of his subchiefs, Baffour Adugyemfu Kumani, known as the Kwaprahene, to appear before him within two weeks, warning that failure to comply will result in his removal from office.

During a recent court session, the Ashanti Kingdom’s paramount leader stated that Baffour Adugyemfu Kumani must appear to address allegations of double land sales and violation of the Asante Great Oath (Otumfuo Ntamkese). It has been reported by several media outlets that the final date for his appearance is set for Friday, November 3, 2023, and he is expected to present himself through the Akwamu division.

In a video shared by Opemsuo Radio, an affiliate of Manhyia, a visibly frustrated Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed, “Kwaprahene knows why I’m seeking him. He is aware that I’m pursuing him due to the land issue. He has been evading me, citing illness as an excuse, thinking he can outsmart me. Go and fetch him. I will not accept any excuses from him. In his youth, he sold my land without settling the payment. I forgave him, but the issue has resurfaced.”

The monarch emphasized the two-week deadline, stating, “If he does not appear within two weeks, he must abdicate his throne, and all his subordinate elders will be dismissed as well. Just two weeks, regardless of his condition, he must present himself. I have repeatedly cautioned you, the elders, regarding his misconduct, and you should have urged him to change his ways, but you have failed to do so.”
